NYC code requires tempered or laminated safety glass for any panel within 24" of a door. Tempered is more common and breaks into harmless pebbles. Laminated is two layers bonded with PVB — holds together when broken, better for security-rated installs.Can you replace just the glass or do I need a new door?
Almost always glass-only. We remove the existing glazing beads, fit the new glass to your existing door frame, and re-bed with fresh glazing compound. Full door replacement is only needed if the door slab itself is damaged or non-compliant.
